Meet Shannon Rodway
SR Veterinary Physiotherapy (SR Vet Physio) is owned and run by a qualified Veterinary Physiotherapy, Shannon Rodway (BSc [Hons]), who is a proud member of the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP). SR Vet Physio is a mobile service for horses and dogs in the South West; providing a professional, friendly service to Somerset, Dorset and East Devon. Delivering high standard, individually tailored assessment and treatment of your animal’s needs is at the centre of what we do. SR Vet Physio has experience in treating many different types of horses and dogs by combining physiotherapy techniques alongside Shannon’s knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy and physiology to aid your animal’s needs and achieve optimum results. SR Vet Physio integrates ‘hands-on’ treatment, with the use of electrotherapies and remedial exercise prescription that ensures progress is made between sessions.
Shannon’s journey to founding SR Veterinary Physiotherapy started when she embraced a passion for animals at a young age; but her enthusiasm for veterinary physiotherapy, massage and performance enhancement began when she was introduced to an existing McTimoney Animal Practitioner for the needs of her own, beloved, ex-racehorse, Ras Laffan. Encouraged by the results (and driven by the love of her own horse, Merlin, and her Dog, Maple) Shannon would pursued her own career in the veterinary industry.
Personally, Shannon’s breadth of knowledge is attributable to spending time with, working and competing her own animals; she and her own horse, Merlin, regularly compete at British Show-Jumping and British Eventing events which came with its own post-operative physiotherapy needs when he suffered from ‘Kissing Spines’. Her pet Labrador, Maple, works with Shannon and Merlin and is agility trained by Shannon in their spare time.
Professionally, however, Shannon’s training developed when working at Cotswold Dog Spa at Hartpury College (where she became inspired to work in all aspects of canine rehabilitation) and through university education at Moreton Morrell. It was here that research-based theory was applied during clinical placement modules that provided the opportunity to work with a variety of equine and canine cases; such as agility dogs, retired raced greyhounds and riding school horses from all different backgrounds, disciplines and ages. Keen to keep her practice up-to-date and evidenced-based, Shannon continues to regularly attend lectures and demonstrations… She knows we are always learning; especially when it comes to our animals!!
These invaluable life and educational experiences prepared Shannon to deal with a variety of orthopaedic and neurological cases that your animal may experience and, from her Physiotherapy role at SR Vet Physio, is eager to help
